We make it a priority to offer the latest technology and most effective treatments to our patients for the best possible selection of options to fulfill cosmetic goals. We are among the first providers in Florida to offer HALO treatments and we are excited about its ability to improve pore size, wrinkles and skin tone and texture.
What is HALO Hybrid Fractional Laser Therapy?
Until the development of the hybrid fractional laser (HFL), patients had to choose between an ablative treatment with longer downtime and a non ablative treatment with no downtime but with far less effectiveness.
An ablative laser is considered the most effective treatment to improve signs of aging by removing the outer layers of damaged skin, triggering the body’s healing mechanism to increase collagen production and reveal healthier, tighter skin. The main disadvantage to a deep ablative laser treatment is a fairly long recovery period of up to two weeks.
A non-ablative laser heats the outer layers of the skin but does not remove them resulting in little or no downtime but requiring several treatments to achieve treatment goals.
By combining both lasers, HALO laser therapy provides a previously impossible ability to deliver separate fractional laser treatments to the epidermis and dermis at the same time. HALO offers results that are more similar to ablative laser treatments but with very little downtime for the best of both worlds.

HALO combines two laser wavelengths to eliminate brown spots and skin imperfections while improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This unique laser treatment can noticeably reduce large pores as well. HALO treatments work by focusing energy on both the deeper and superficial layers of the skin. Patients experience noticeably improved skin tone and texture after a single treatment.
With dual wavelengths, each treatment can be customized based on the patient’s unique needs and desired downtime.
Hybrid fractional laser treatments can treat conditions including:
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Mild acne scars
- Large pores
- Sun damage
- Brown spots
- Hypertrophic scars
- Uneven skin tone
HALO Fractional Laser Recovery
Expect your procedure to take up to two hours total, which includes up to one hour to allow the topical anesthetic to take effect and 30 – 45 minutes for the HALO treatment, depending on the treatment area and the desired down time. There will usually be an in-office recovery period of 15 minutes as chilled air and mineral water mist will help dissipate heat from the skin and reduce inflammation.
After your HALO laser treatment, a skin cream will be applied. Minor swelling and redness are common but resolve on their own fairly quickly. Your skin may feel warm like a mild sunburn for up to 24 hours. A cold compress may be comforting.
You may look like you have been out in the sun, but you can resume normal activities and work the same day. About two or three days after treatment, you may see very small dark spots and a bronzed appearance to the skin, which is a natural part of the healing process as treated tissue is forced from the body so new skin can regenerate. Your skin will likely feel dry with a rough texture at first before it begins to peel. This typically lasts up to one week with the face, but other treatment areas may take up to two weeks to completely peel.
After your skin peels, you will have a healthy glow and noticeably improved skin tone. Make sure you wear sunscreen during this healing process, as your skin will be sensitive to the sun.
